It'll be easier, IMO, to steer the Party back to where it should be...fiscal/social/financial conservatism. It's that 'rising tide lifts all boats' idea, again...Good post!Susannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17706229786132028791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9167881550327678888.post-19827810189038738322008-11-22T23:14:00.000-08:002008-11-22T23:14:00.000-08:00"...but the party that best represents Conservativ..."...but the party that best represents Conservative values is no doubt the Republicans."<BR/><BR/>IMO, this used to be true but is no longer. This is especially true on the fiscal side of the platform. The Republicans have started spending like a bunch of Liberal Democrats with a newly passed tax increase! Both parties have trampled upon and broken the basic laws set forth in our <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_United_States" REL="nofollow">Constitution</A>.<BR/><BR/>If the <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_of_the_United_States" REL="nofollow">Republican Party</A> still represented conservative values, they would have selected <A HREF="http://www.campaignforliberty.com/" REL="nofollow">Ron Paul</A> as their 2008 presidential candidate. He is the only one of the group that is what a Conservative is supposed to be.<BR/><BR/>"...but Abraham Lincoln (Republican) recieved 1,866,352 votes and 2,810,501 votes were cast for the Democratic party. The reason the Democrats lost was a split in the party between two canidates." [sic]<BR/><BR/>When <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln" REL="nofollow">Abraham Lincoln</A> was elected, the two major political parties were the <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democrat_(United_States)" REL="nofollow">Democratic Party</A> and the <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whig_(United_States)" REL="nofollow">Whig Party</A>. In 1854, Lincoln left the <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whig_(United_States)" REL="nofollow">Whig Party</A> and joined a third-party, the <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_of_the_United_States" REL="nofollow">Republicans</A>. The <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_of_the_United_States" REL="nofollow">Republican Party</A> soon replaced the <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whig_(United_States)" REL="nofollow">Whig Party</A> as a major party.<BR/><BR/>I would encourage everyone look over this <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_parties_in_the_United_States#Politics_comparison" REL="nofollow">political comparison chart</A> to see which one <I>really</I> represents their values. Once I did, a few weeks before the election, I read the <A HREF="http://www.constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php" REL="nofollow">Constitution Party Platform</A> and changed my voter registration to the <A HREF="http://www.constitutionparty.com" REL="nofollow">Constitution Party</A>. We <B>MUST</B> get this country back to respecting and obeying the fundamental laws and principles of <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_United_States" REL="nofollow">Constitution</A>. Who Knows? Maybe the <A HREF="http://www.constitutionparty.com" REL="nofollow">Constitution Party</A> will be the <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_of_the_United_States" REL="nofollow">Republican Party</A> of 1854.PorkyRayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06204212270712140877noreply@blogger.com
